A 70-year-old retired school principal was found murdered in her house in Alwar on Wednesday.

The victim, Chandra Kanta Arora, was unmarried and lived alone in Scheme-3 area of the city, said Ganpat Ram, circle inspector, City Kotwali.

Police suspect burglary as the reason behind the murder.

Arora’s body was discovered by her maid in the morning. The maid told the police that main door of the house was open and when she entered the house, she saw the old woman lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom. Household items and clothes were scattered in the rooms.

The maid informed the neighbours, who then called the police. The police reached the site and recovered the body. The body was in a mortuary and the police are waiting for her relatives to claim the body, said Ganpat Ram. The victim’s brothers live in Delhi and they have been informed, he added.

The woman’s body has injury marks on her head. The police have registered a case and started investigations.
