Sachin Pilot attacks Rajasthan government in CM’s turf, demands for complete farm loan waiver

The Rajasthan government should waive off the entire farm loan soon without waiting for the assembly poll to gain political benefit, state Congress chief Sachin Pilot said on Friday taking a dig at chief minister Vasundhara Raje in her home constituency.
Pilot, a former union minister and a frontrunner for the chief minister’s post if the Congress returns to power in the 2018 assembly election, was addressing a large gathering in Jhalawar on the last day of his 100 km ‘Kisan Nyay Padyatra’.
“Kisan Nyay Yatra was organised to provide justice to farmers... when other BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh have waived off farm loans then the Rajasthan government should also waive off farm loans,” he said.
“The government will have to waive off ‘entire’ farm loans of farmers instead of mere announcement of waiver of farm loans only Rs 50,000 in Rajasthan otherwise the Congress will continue its fight for farmers’ interests,” Pilot said.
Pilot also alleged that the state government wants to delay waiving off of farm loans till assembly polls next year to get political benefit.
“The erstwhile UPA government at the Centre had waived off Rs 72,000 crore of farm loans across the country without thinking about which party is ruling the state,” the Congress leader said.
“Loans of corporates are being waived off under BJP rule while farmers are committing suicides due to debts,” he said.
“The BJP government believes in politics of victimisation and vengeance as it video-graphed the Kisan Nyay Padyatra,” he said.
The Rajasthan government was doing eyewash in the name of government purchase of crops and not buying farmers crop, he said.
“The ruling party seems to think that people are in its pockets as it will divide people in the name of Hindu and Muslim to garner votes before polls,” Pilot said.
He also demanded that the Centre should remove agricultural equipment from the list of GST taxation products to provide relief to farmers.
Dudi’s shoe video goes viral
A video showing Congress leader Rameshwar Dudi asking security guard to remove his shoes before entering a Jain temple in Jhalawar on Thursday went viral on social media.
Dudi, leader of opposition in the Rajasthan assembly, was a part ‘Kisan Nyay Padyatra’ undertaken by Congress state unit chief Sachin Pilot.
Pilot, however, defended Dudi, saying he and Dudi had developed soars in their legs due to the tiring padyatra. He also said Dudi’s domestic help removed his shoes and not by a policemen.
