Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday attacked state Congress president Sachin Pilot questioning his work in the constituency in the last five years.
Raje said Pilot had not taken care of the constituency. “The Congress MP failed to take care of your district, Raje said while addressing a huge rally in support of Sanwar Lal Jat, who has been pitted against Sachin Pilot.
He asks that what our government did in two months but he should tell people that where was he and why he did not spare time for people,” she said. At another public meeting in Sikar in support of BJP candidate Swami Sumedhanand, Raje took a dig at the Congress saying its leaders are scared to contest elections looking at the BJP and Narendra Modi wave. “Many leaders have requested their leadership not to give them tickets, others have preferred to field their sons instead while many have joined the BJP.”
She said while the BJP has announced even its prime ministerial candidate, the Congress has been keeping mum. “We do not want nominated prime minster but elected prime minister,” she said.
She reiterated that the party is like her family. “Atalji (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and Rajmata (mother Vijayraje Scindia) told me never to leave the family. Whatever the party decides, one has to abide by it”, she said.
She asked farmers affected by the rains to be patient. “My government is with the farmers… We have assessed the damages caused to crops and will give adequate compensation.”
She said in a short span her government had nearly fulfilled one of its promises of giving 24 hours power in the state. “We are giving uninterrupted power for 22 hours and soon it would be made available for 24 hours,” said Raje.
Subhash Maharia files as independent
With former BJP member of Parliament Subhash Maharia on Wednesday filing nominations from Sikar parliamentary constituency as independent candidate, the fight has become tough for BJP candidate Swami Sumedhanand. BJP has fielded Swami Sumedhanand of Haryana from Sikar Lok Sabha seat, while Congress has fielded PS Jat, who was chairman and managing director of Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam. Maharia has been elected thrice in Lok Sabha in 1998, 1999 and 2004 and has been minister for state.
