Launching a scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday said, “BJP’s key campaigner Modi is making claims... as if by his advent, India will become heaven. Does he have a magic wand?"
“It is obvious Modi does not know running a state is different from that of country...It requires dedication and commitment.” Gandhi was addressing a jam packed public rally in Paota town on Delhi road near Jaipur (85km) in support of party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Jaipur rural seat CP Joshi, who is also the sitting Bhilwara MP.
“The country today is standing at the crossroads... on one end is Congress ideology, which believes in economic development of the weaker sections and on the other side is the BJP, which identifies people not according to their talent but caste and religion. They believe people who are with them are patriots and others are not,” said Gandhi. She said: “I hope you will make the right choice and make our candidate victorious.”
On the party manifesto, she said Congress has promised many vocational training schemes for youth, right to health, 25% women police at every police station, technological and loan support to unorganised sectors.
State party chief Sachin Pilot said, “We are contesting the elections on the basis of our work; schemes and programmes, which are benefitting the people.”
Party candidate Joshi appealed to the gathering not to pay attention to people who talk of feeding milk to Lord Ganesh.
Present at the meeting were state party incharge Kumari Selja, co-incharge Mirza Irshad Baig, leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi, Jaipur rural MP Lal Chand Kataria and other senior leaders.
