“A small Bluetooth-enabled hardware device, called iBeacon, has been set up at 15 tourist places in Jhalawar. When a tourist who has the lezgo app installed on his or her smartphone reaches a site with iBeacon, it automatically pairs itself with the tourist’s smartphone through Bluetooth and gives information about the spot,” said deputy director, department of information and technology, Jhalawar, RS Bairwa.

“Information ranging from details about cities, places and attractions, text with pictures and cultural stories, audio streams, interactive fun and other features will be displayed on the smartphone without any charges,” said the district collector, Jitendra Kumar Soni.

District tourism officer Sajid Qureshi said that the app will provide information about spots like Gagron Fort, Sun Temple, Atishaya Temple, Buddhist caves of Kolvi and Vinayaka, Government Museum, Bhawani Natyashala and other famous tourist sites of Jhalawar.

“Many a time tourists find it difficult to get detailed information about a tourist spot. Also not every tourist site has guides. This app will help the over one lakh tourist (domestic and international) who come to Jhalawar every year,” Qureshi said.

Parag Prasad, chief executive officer, Sohamsaa Systems Private Limited, said that the app also takes care of tourists’ safety and has an integrated SOS function, which tourists can use if they face any problem.

Bairwa said that information about installing the mobile app will be spread through railway stations, bus stands and other tourist spots.

Prasad said that LeZgo smart tourism solution has been installed in Ajmer, Pushkar, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Barmer in the last six month. “Soon trivia features, loyalty points, travel bookings on flights, trains, buses and cabs will also be available on the app,” added Prasad.

The app is on a trial run and will be soon launched in Jhalawar, said Bairwa. He said that at present information available on the app is in English; soon other languages and a language converter option will be added.
