The Rajasthan cabinet on Monday paved the way for setting up special economic zones (SEZs) across the state by clearing the a bill on the issue that will soon be tabled in the assembly for discussion.
Detailing the Special Economic Zones Bill 2015, parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore said the state’s SEZs would be 100% VAT-free, stamp duty-free and electricity duty-free."There is provision for relaxing the Land Ceiling Act if need be," he said.
An approval committee chaired by the Chief Secretary will be formed to clear SEZ proposals. Under a single window system, a Development Commissioner will check SEZ master plans and building maps. The Development Commissioner will have the powers of the Labour Commissioner.
“Rajasthan government studied acts and bills of all states where SEZs have been set up and has come up with a comprehensive bill,” Rathore said.
The cabinet also cleared the formation of the Rajasthan State AYUSH Society on the lines of AYUSH Mission in the Centre. The society will be headed by the Ayurved minister and principal secretary for Ayurved.
Rathore said the body will work to strengthen alternate medical systems like ayurved, yoga, naturopathy, siddha and homoeopathy. The formation of the society will also help in getting help from the AYUSH Mission, he said.
Sections 9 and 10 of the Rajasthan Ayurved University Act of 2002 have been amended to give the Vice chancellor rights in examinations and teaching.
The cabinet also cleared the affiliation of agriculture colleges under the jurisdiction of the Maharana Pratap Agriculture and Technical University in Udaipur.
