Nisha Mohanty, wife of suspended IAS officer BB Mohanty, has challenged the order for attaching their property as it is held jointly by them.
Nisha Mohanty, wife of suspended IAS officer BB Mohanty, has challenged the order for attaching their property as it is held jointly by them.
On March 25, a court had declared BB Mohanty an absconder after the case of rape of a 22-year-old woman.
“He has been absconding since the case was registered against him. The court of metropolitan magistrate Raj Kumar declared him an absconder,” said the woman’s lawyer Umesh Choudhary.
Nisha Mohanty filed an application in the court and said that the police has submitted a list in the court for attaching the property.
The property should not be attached because it is held jointly, she said. After filing the petition against attaching the property, the court adjourned the case till May 12.
A first information report (FIR) was registered on January 25 against Mohanty, an additional chief secretary rank officer who was posted as chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal.
The woman said in her complaint that Mohanty introduced himself as a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer last year and exploited her on the promise of helping her clear the IAS examination.
She said the officer sexually exploited her for the first time at his flat on February 19 last year.
On February 5 the state government suspended IAS officer BB Mohanty over allegation of sexual exploitation of the 22-year-old woman.
