Tension gripped Surajpole area of the walled city on Friday morning when a calf slaughter was detected outside the house of a local resident.

According to the police, the incident happened at Darjiyon Ka Rasta at Surajpole Gate in the early morning hours. A woman came out to milk the cow early morning when she found body parts and blood of the calf lying nearby. She raised an alarm after which her family members also came out. The neighbours also gathered at the spot and protested the incident.
As situation started becoming tense, the police from Ramganj police station reached the spot. Extra police forces from nearby stations were also roped in to control the situation. Since, the area is a minority community dominated place, the police took extra caution to contain the situation.
