Two college students arrested for gang-rape

Two students were today arrested for allegedly gang-raping a girl at Parastarai village here, police said today.

Two accused Ved Prakash Sahu and Preetam Suryavanshi have been arrested while four others, viz. A K Kashyap, Shiv Kumar, Satish Ikka and Rahul Mishra are absconding, Additional Superintendent of Police, Lal Ummed Singh said adding that all were students of the Vindhya Institute of Technology and Science here.

According to the victim, she and her fiance had gone for a walk in the village on February 14 when the accused accosted and raped her after beating up her fiance, Singh said. After she reported the incident, angry villagers attacked the college and beat up students following which police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them, he said. Further investigation is on.
