A 10-year-old boy, pushed into a 20-feet deep well on March 27, was safely evacuated by the farmers on Friday.

Bhagwan, a farmer, was inspecting his fields in Bulandpur village when he heard a noise coming from a well in his field and found a boy crying for help , said the police.

Bhagwan called his nephews Ranjit Singh and Santokh, who went down into the well with the help of a rope and evacuated the boy, the police said.

The boy Rohit Tewari (10) alleged that he was pushed into the well on March 27 by a migrant youth Arjun who works in a plywood manufacturing unit.

“Arjun wanted to marry my 16-year-old sister and wanted me to talk to my parents. I refused and then he pushed me into the well,” Rohit told DSP Jasbir Singh Rai, who had rushed to the spot on receiving the news.

“It is amazing that a boy could survive for two days without any food or water in a narrow well,” the DSP said.

He added that Rohit was taken to a private hospital for medical treatment and was declared to be normal.

The mother of Rohit, Ranjana, claimed that she had lodged a missing report with the police.
The DSP added that efforts were on arrest Arjun, who has been absconding.
