Union information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari has claimed that the Akalis were being ungrateful, when they accused the Central government of discrimination. He alleged that the state government was surviving only on the grants provided by the Central government.
Addressing a public meeting at Partap Road in the support of the party candidate Vijay Sathi on Saturday, Tewari pointed out that chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was in Delhi almost every week, meeting the Prime Minister and other union ministers, seeling various grants. He claimed that his demands were met.
"Unfortunately once he returns to Punjab, he starts saying that the Centre was discriminating with Punjab."
Referring to the poor state of economy, Tewari said that under the Akali regime, Punjab had slipped from sixth to 12th place in the development index, while the state debt had broken all records.
"Is this the development they are claim to have started?" he asked. He appealed to the people Moga to vote for the Congress candidate.
"You cannot fool all of the people all the time", he told the government while strongly urging the people to ensure that the Congress candidate Vijay Sathi wins.
"I know you are going to vote for Congress and ensure Vijay Sathi's victory, but I want you to ensure that this is done with the highest margin," he said.
