The local police have brought druglord Jagdish Singh Bhola on a five-day police remand to question him in the ASI Gurdev Singh murder case.
The police said that the revolver, which the assailants used in the killing of the ASI, was allegedly supplied by Bhola to them.
The police said that Bhola was named by accused Pinda and others during their interrogation.
Bhola, along with two others, was sent in judicial custody on Wednesday. The Kapurthala police had brought him on production warrant from Patiala.
On October 27, 2013, the Patiala police had arrested Palwinder Singh Pinda in connection with the murder of the ASI, who was shot dead near the Haveli Restaurant near Jalandhar on March 31 last year.
Earlier, the Jalandhar (rural) police had arrested Pushpinder Singh alias Noni and Kapurthala police had arrested Tavinder Singh alias Tally within days of the murder.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, SSP Inderbir Singh said that they did not interrogate Bhola on Thursday as they were busy in getting even with the protest by the Congress.
When asked why Phagwara police did not seek Bhola's custody earlier for questioning his alleged role in the case, he said that it was part of investigations and his name surfaced during interrogation of others in Patiala.
