BSP appoints fresh team of office bearers

Eyeing the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Saturday announced a fresh list of 37 office bearers of its Punjab unit.

National general secretary of the party and Rajya Sabha MP Narender Kumar Kashayap said a press conference that the party had also appointed in charges for each of the 13 parliamentary seats in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

He claimed that this 'total revamp' of the party would lead to a good performance by the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

He said that party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Mayawati, had appointed 13 general secretaries, 12 secretaries, seven members to the party's state-level committee along with new state-president Parkash Singh Jandali and vice-president Arjun Singh Bawa. He said that Sukhwinder Kotli has been nominated as media coordinator.

Answering the question over support to UPA government, he said that the party had been supporting the UPA only to keep the BJP out of power.

On the party's alleged failure to take up the complaints to Dalits, he claimed that appropriate issues were raised in Parliament.
