The district police have booked BSP leaders for carrying protests in city by blocking traffic, causing inconvenience to public and violating prohibition orders issued by the district magistrate.

Party workers led by state general secretary Jarnail Nangal and district office bearers of the party blocked the traffic in the different parts of city on Wednesday, demanding the quashing of cases against party workers on February 18 in a scuffle with activists of Bhagwan Vaalmiki Kranti Sena over the temple row.

The police had booked district secretary Charanjeet Hans, state general secretary Jarnail Nangal and district coordinator Tarsem Singh Dolla.

Besides, more than 50 unidentified persons under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 283 (danger or obstruction to public), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons) and other Sections of Indian Penal Code and Sections 3,4,5 of Punjab Instruments (Controls & Noises) Act 1956.

“The district magistrate had issued prohibitory orders in the district, still these leaders dared to violate the orders, causing inconvenience to the public by blocking the main roads. Some workers also threatened people using the road. They also played speakers on high volume causing disturbances to the students due to exam days, so all concerned have been booked,” sources in the police said.
