Enthused by the political performance of Arvind Kejriwal's led Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the Delhi assembly elections, People's Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Badal on Sunday said that he had learnt several lessons from the style of functioning of the AAP.

“I am enthused by the political performance of AAP in Delhi, as it has changed the general perception that it is difficult for honest people to prove their mettle in the political battle,” Manpreet told Hindustan Times, claiming that the ideology of both AAP and PPP is almost the same.

“While AAP fought on a single issue of political corruption, PPP offered variety of such seeds in the assembly election, but unfortunately it did not sprout well,” he said revealing that however, he has learnt several lessons from AAP.

Elaborating further on the lessons learnt by AAP, Manpreet said: “AAP fielded all new faces in the political ground and people accepted many of them, as they were fed by the old politicians and accordingly they responded by casting votes.”

“Even, it is noticed that AAP matched the publicity and propaganda of other political parties, rupee to rupee on all medium, be it jingle on FM radios or door to door campaign,” Manpreet said.

Although, PPP also fielded 80% of new faces in Punjab assembly elections, but fielding of some hardcore politicians, including him, could not earn the confidence of people, he said.

Asked if he has any plans for political alliance with PPP for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the PPP chief said: “It is too early to say anything on it, but yes agenda of both the parties is same.”
