Roshan Lal, 38, a resident of Baldev Nagar, has alleged that the police have not taken any action over a complaint against Sudershan Sethi, owner of a shop, from where Lal runs a business at Phagwara market.

Roshan said when he took this shop 38 years ago, Hardev Lal was the owner and Sudershan, has been collecting rent from on the behalf of Hardev since then.

Roshan added that Sudershan purchased the shop from Hardev a few years ago and since then he has been threatening Roshan to vacate the property. "A few days ago, he along with others came to the shop and started abusing and thrashing me and locked the shop," said Roshan.

Roshan alleged that he lodged a complaint to police division-3 but it failed to take any action due to political pressure from the local BJP leaders including Amarjeet Singh Amri who is allegedly backing Sudershan.

The Sher-E-Punjab electronics market association has extended support to Roshan and sought intervention from state administration.
However, Amri refuted Roshan's allegations about giving him life threats. "Roshan was a tenant of the shop which is owned by Sudershan. I am not involved into it," said Amri.

SHO police division-3, Jatinder Singh said police had called up both parties Sudershan and Roshan to present the documents they possess regarding the shop but none of them have showed up. A DDR was also registered into this incident, he said.
