The state wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced to field candidates from all parliamentary constituencies in the 2014 general elections.
Addressing newsmen here on Wednesday, state president of the party Swaran Singh said, "Due to anti-people policies of the Congress at the centre and SAD and BJP in state, the people have suffered a lot. Different types of taxes have ruined the urbanites and the government is hell-bent to sell government properties to raise funds for payment of salaries even. We have decided to provide people of the state an alternative to vote for."
"The list of candidates will be announced in due course of time as the scrutiny of candidates is going on at the constituency level," he said, adding that, "the decision of contesting elections from Punjab will have no effect on alliance with the Congress in Maharashtra as it is the decision of our state leadership."
Swaran Singh also presented before media the people who recently joined the party after deserting other parties.
