The passengers travelling in trains would now have to shell out more as per the revision of fares announced in the rail budget come into effect from April 1.
The Indian railways have increased reservation fee, supplement charges and Tatkal charges from Monday barring increase in basic fare. The cancellation and clerkage charges would also be increased.
A railway official informed that there would be no change in the sleeper and second class while the revised fare of AC class would be increased from Rs 25 to Rs 40 and Rs 35 to Rs 60 for executive class.
The reservation fee and supplementary charge for superfast trains in first class and AC-2 tier has been doubled from Rs 25 to Rs 50
While the cancellation charges in case of confirmed tickets have been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 50, the clerkage charge in case of cancellation of waiting and reservation against cancellation (RAC) tickets have been increased from Rs 5 for second class to Rs 10 for AC class.
The tatkal charges would be realised at 10% of basic fare for reserved second (2S) class and 30% of basic fare for all other classes.
The tatkal charges for sleeper have been increased from Rs 90 to Rs 175 while it has been doubled for AC chair car and AC-3 tier.
