Rs 7.99 crores for Slug-Water treatment project

 District Soil Conservation department has started setting up a slug-water irrigation Project in Phagwara worth Rs 7.99 crores under Satluj River action plan.

Deputy commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat revealed this, here on Monday.

“Under this project, 18 km pipeline is being laid down which would provide water supply to 550 Hectare area for irrigation purposes,” Mangat said.

He added that under Integrated Water Shed programme, 4,525 hectare area in 16 villages would be covered at the cost of Rs 5.43 crores.

He further added that 18 villages in block Sultanpur Lodhi would be covered at the cost of Rs 6.48 crores covering 5040 hectare area by the end of year 2014-15.

Deputy commissioner said that Punjab government has also launched a Micro Irrigation Scheme under National Mission of Micro Irrigation to solve the problem of decreasing underground water level.
