Activists of Dihati Mazdoor Sabha on Wednesday deferred their decision to gherao the office of naib tehsildar to protest against the administration's failure to handover possession of five marlas plots to economically weaker sections.
At a meeting of sabha leaders, block development and panchayat officer (BDPO) and naib tehsildar on Wednesady it was decided to conduct demarcation of the site at Powadharra village.
However, the activists continued with their indefinite dharna at the BDPO office.
The government had earmarked six kanals and 12 marlas at Powadharra village to allot five marla plots to khet mazdoors and even mutations were sanctioned on their names.
Sabha president Darshan Nahar said the dharna would continue till possession was not given to the allotters.
Nakodar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) KS Beesla was leading a heavy police force at Nurmahal sub tehsil office in view of the proposed gherao.
Naib tehsildar Lakhwinder Singh said paddy fields were hindering the demarcation, but it would be completed soon.
