Schools whose students went missing from the US on April 23, registered a complaint about the incident with the local police on Saturday.
State Public School managing committee chairman Narottam Singh claimed that the parents' failure to inform the police led to them informing the police.
"A complaint on the seven missing students has already been lodged with the US,” he added.
“We have received a complaint from the school authorities and are looking into it,” SP Gurmit Singh said, adding that parents will be called to record their statements and call details of parents would be taken out as part of the investigation.
Rajinder Kaur, mother of Manveer, one of the seven missing students, said that the family did not contact the school management as it had alreadt taken an affidavit from them putting the responsibility of their children on the family.
Ashok Kalra, father of another missing student, Sahil Karla, said that his son had called him up from the US and would return before the expiry of the visa on May 10.
