The commissionerate police have failed to provide any relief to the 16-year-old girl, who had filed a sexual harassment complaint at women helpline number 181 on November 29, the parents of the victim have alleged.
More than 20 days have been passed and she is awaiting the registration of the case.
The victim has alleged that she was facing one or the other inquiry officer after she had filed the complaint. The parents of the victim allege police inaction due to the closeness of accused with a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
On Thursday, the victim along with her parents visited the commissioner of police and sought action against the erring people, who had misbehaved with her.
Commissioner of police Ishwar Singh forwarded the complaint to additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Parminder Singh Bhandal, who assured the family of visiting their place in the evening to collect the situational witnesses, but on Thursday evening, the family received the message that the officer would now visit them on Friday.
“This has been happening since the time we had registered our complaint. An assistant sub-inspector of division number 5 police station visited us and requested to reach a compromise with the people against whom we have lodged the complaint,” said the mother of the victim.
“Both the accused are out on bail and are close to BJP leader Rajan Angural. Police are not taking any action against the accused as they are being patronised by the BJP leader,” father of the girl, told HT.
Refuting any closeness with the accused, Rajan Angural, said: “My name is being dragged unnecessarily by the parents, who are under the pressure of area councilor from the Congress party. If the parents have any complaint, they can report the matter to the police.”
Commissioner of police Ishwar Singh said: “It appears that the complaint is being forwarded due to personal rivalry. We will collect circumstantial evidences before taking any action,” he said.
Meanwhile, ADCP Bhandal on Friday said that he had visited the victims's place and recorded the statement of the victim. “On Saturday, we will call another party and will take suitable action thereafter,” he said.
