People's Democratic Party members were marshaled out from the house on Wednesday after they created unruly scenes and disrupted the assembly.

Immediately after the question hour, PDP member Syed Bashir wanted to highlight the issue regarding the delay in providing ration to Kashmiri Pandit migrants staying at Jagti camp in Nagrota.

However, after being disallowed to raise the issue, Bashir trooped to the well of the house. In spite of speaker Mubarak Gul asking him to return to his seat, Bashir kept shouting and disrupting the proceedings.

Finally, the speaker ordered marshals to escort Bashir out of the house, following which, other PDP members trooped towards the well of the house.

The PDP MLAs entered into a scuffle with the marshals who were trying to make Bashir leave the house, and used physical force on them.

During the scuffle, Bashir slapped one of the marshals. Expressing anger over the unruly behaviour of the MLAs, the speaker then ordered the marshals to make the agitating members leave the house.

The MLAs causing the commotion were marshalled out, while other PDP members, including party president Mehbooba Mufti and Abdul Rehman Veeri, who were on their seats while the chaos went on, also walked out in support of their party colleagues.

Later, talking to mediapersons outside the house, Bashir evaded questions on justification for slapping the marshal, and instead accused the speaker of acting in "a partisan" manner.

"It appears that he is the speaker of only one party (National Conference). He does not allow us to raise issues of public importance. What is the need of this assembly, when the voices of the masses remain unheard? I have not used any of the free tokens for lunch provided to me. We do not come here to enjoy free lunches," he alleged.

Justifying his protest, Bashir claimed, "I only wanted to raise the issue of delay in providing ration to Kashmiri Pandit migrants staying at Jagti camp. When I visited the camp on Tuesday, the migrants said they have not got their quota of ration in spite of 18 months having passed. The speaker, instead of listening to us, issued orders to marshal us out."
