Congress party state unit president Saifuddin Soz in a meeting with the block presidents of the party from Jammu, Samba and Kathua at a meeting held at Samba to get feedback on reason for the poor performance of the party in parliamentary elections said that even though the NC-Congress coalition government took many pro-people initiatives but it failed on account of basic governance. He said that had to be analysed and corrected.
His statement came a day after chief minister and working president of National Conference Omar Abdullah said that both NC and Congress were equally responsible for the good or bad works of the government.
The relation between the coalition partners have strained after the debacle in elections and it appears they may part ways before the assembly elections.
“Coalition gover nment did many things for the people like setting up of administrative units, review of recruitment policy but it failed to deliver governance. There are problems in improving electrical infrastructure, distribution of rations, particularly in far-flung areas and fulfillment of other basic needs,” Soz said.
