30 Jail inmates in Kolkata start fast for Anna

Kolkata: About 30 inmates of Presidency Central Jail in Kolkata started an indefinite fast on Friday in support of Anna Hazare even as the city remained relatively indifferent to the anti-corruption activist’s countrywide movement.
The fasting inmates include a few charged with murder and dacoity. A jail official said, “The inmates said Anna was making sacrifices for the country and they wanted to do their lot too. We were surprised to hear about their decision, but we have allowed them (to fast).” HTC

Kashmiri braveheart Rukhsana to join Anna struggle
Jammu: Coming out in support of Anna Hazare's campaign, Rukhsana Kausar, the Kashmiri girl who was awarded the Kirti Chakra for fighting militants, on Friday said she would join the Gandhian in Delhi in his “war against corruption”. Rukhsana, who along with her younger brother Aijaz, fought a group of three foreign militants of Lashker-e-Taiba and killed its commander Abu Usama in Rajouri district on September 27, 2009, said, “I will go to New Delhi and join Anna in his movement at Ramlila Maidan.” PTI

Wildlife smugglers use ‘I love Anna’ code to ply their trade
Jaipur: Jaipur Police have arrested two wildlife smugglers using ‘I love Anna’ as a code to ply their trade in animal skins. Police recovered skins of a panther, a deer, and a swamp deer from them on Friday. Police had laid a trap on Thursday after a tip-off. A police officer went up to the accused, Parvej Khan, 35, and Wasiuddin, 28, residents of Jaipur, and uttered the code ‘I Love Anna’. The accused promptly opened their bag and showed a panther skin only to land in the police net. HTC
