The Election Commission may seek more information from the West Bengal government if it is not satisfied with the inquiry report on finance minister Asim Dasgupta's alleged violation of the model code of conduct, an official in the state chief electoral officer's secretariat said on Tuesday.
"We have received the report and sent it to the EC. If it is not satisfied with the report, it may seek more inputs from the state government," N K Sahana, special secretary in the CEO's office, told newsmen.
Chief secretary Samar Ghosh, who had written the forwarding letter to the report, said the state government was ready to provide any additional information.
According to Shana, the CEO's office had received queries from various departments of the state government regarding continuation of various projects and schemes, including payment of pensions.
"There is no problem in paying pension. All the other queries have been sent to the EC for its decision," he said.
