The CPI(M) would have a tough battle on its hands in the Lok Sabha election in West Bengal where Trinamool Congress and Congress have formed an alliance, party general secretary Prakash Karat said on Wednesday.
“We will have a tough battle. The unity between Trinamool Congress and Congress in one factor. The ruling Left Front has taken this into account and we will overcome it,” Karat told a meet-the-press programme at Press Club in Kolkata.
The CPI-M general secretary, however, was confident of securing a decisive majority in the state.
Asked whether Nandigram would have any impact on the election, Karat said that the election did not have a single issue. “State issues will matter, but they will not be the only issue.”
