West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee would visit the Maoist dominated districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia next week.
This is her first visit to the region after she swept the 34 year old Left Front government and took charge as chief minister on May 20.
On Thursday evening, Mamata Banerjee announced that her government is willing to open dialogue with the rebels and mandated six members of the civil society to start the process.
According to sources in the state home department, the chief minister is supposed to reach Jhargram of West Midnapore district on July 12.
Mamata has also said that she would withdraw the Centre state combined security forces that are positioned in the Jangalmahal region once peace returns to the area and weapons are recovered. She also appealed to the people in the region to give peace a chance and support the development programmes that her government is rolling out in the area.
The last time Mamata banerjee went to the Maoist-dominated belt was on August 9, 2010 when, at a rally in Lalgarh, she criticized the killing of CPI(Maoist) spokesperson Azad.
