Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today alleged that the launch of Tata Motors Nano car just before the general elections was a “conspiracy” against her.
“Nano was launched at this time before the general elections with a motive. The car is not ready and a few models were released buying parts from malls,” she claimed alleging that it was a ‘conspiracy´ against her.
She also returned Tatamotors chairman Ratan Tata’s greeting. Tata had wished her ‘good afternoon´ during Nano’s launch in Mumbai on March 23.
“I wish him a good night. We want a new morning,” Banerjee said jocularly in an interview to a Bengali news channel aired this evening.
Banerjee, who has been blamed for the Nano’s flight from Bengal to Gujarat following agitation at Singur over land acquisition issues, claimed, “It was not the agitation, but recession that made the Tatas to stop the plant’s operationalisation here.”
Claiming that other Tata plants like Corus and the vehicle factory at Jamshedpur were facing hard times, she said, “We had not agitated there, so why are those facing problems?”
