Many who voted for the last phase of the assembly elections are also voters from Jharkhand. Electoral roles of both Jharkhand and West Bengal showed voters with the same name and father's or husband's name. Authorities said action would be taken only after receipt of a formal complaint.
Surendra Gupta, district magistrate in West Midnapore, said, "No one can be a voter from two places. We have not received such any complaints that one has his/her name on the voter's list in two states. We can only take action after we receive a formal complaint." Nimai Chandra Santra, son of Pratap Santra, has names on the voter's list in two states. In Bengal, his name appears in Nayagram assembly area. His name has the serial number 672, in part number 35. Here he is shown as a villager of Nota. His voter card number is WB/33/230/039514.
In Jharkhand, his name has serial number 723, under part number 207, where he is shown as a villager of Kumardubi area under Barshole police station in Jharkhand state. And in that state his voter card number is CVZ 1686302.
Such a thing had happened in the case of many more who are voters of the two states, like Ahalya Santra, Banipada Santra, Radhakrishna Santra, Bindurani Santra and Uttam Santra.
