Protests broke out inside an Air India Express flight as passengers were detained for over 12 hours without food and water at the airport in Kolkata.
Mehboob Rehman, a passenger of the aircraft, told reporters over phone that the anger of his fellow travellers might get out of control if no immediate measure was taken.
"Passengers are angry since they were not informed about the cause of delay in the take-off after the plane landed here at 1.15 am. There is no arrangement of food and water and the condition of the toilets is repulsive," he said.
Confirming Rehman's statement and complaint, Air India authorities said they would soon arrange food and water for the passengers and clean up the lavatories.
The Singapore-Kolkata-Dhaka flight with 80 passengers on board could not take off from Kolkata due to poor visibility and dense fog in Dhaka this morning, they said.
"Once we get clearance from the air control, there will be no more delay to fly to Dhaka," they said.
The misery of the passengers had started from Singapore as the plane took off from the city seven hours behind schedule, the officials said.
