A pool car driver accused of molesting a five year-old student, was arrested on Sunday.

Acting on a complaint by the parents, sleuths from Ghola police station, arrested Kumaresh Kar (35), the accused pool car driver. The guardians in their complaint alleged that Kar had been fondling their five-year-old, a student of KG 1, over the last three months.

Sources in the Ghola police quoted the parents as alleging that the accused pool car driver would often make improper advances at their daughter while bringing her home from school. Shamed and traumatised, the girl confided to her parents about the advances. “The parents said they had earlier warned the driver about his conduct, but he dismissed the charges. But despite being warned, the driver didn’t mend his ways and continued with his excesses,” an officer of the Ghola police station told HT.

“Acting on the complaint, we arrested the driver,” Biswajit Ghosh, the additional deputy commissioner of police, Belghoria, told HT.

“The victim in the Ghola case had been living in trauma. According the complaint by the girl’s family, the accused pool car driver would often make improper sexual advances at her while driving her home. The excesses mostly happened on the way back home along with another student of the same school. After reaching home one day, the girl laid bare her ordeal to her parents. While moving the complaints, the parents said that their daughter was traumatised and was even unwilling to go to school,” a senior officer of the Barrackpore police Commissionerate told HT.

In a similar outrage back on August 11, a mother of two— seven-year-old boy and six-yearold girl—lodged a complaint with the Gariahat police station, claiming that their pool car driver made sexual advances at her wards. It was further alleged that the Gariahat police was initially slow to move for action against the accused driver.

The mother claimed that her wards were in trauma and were scared of their rides to and from the school. However, the sleuths shook off their perceived sloth later and arrested Samir Sarkar, the accused pool car driver.
