West Bengal Speaker H A Halim today directed assembly officials to expunge the name of the Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee from the proceedings of the House following a request from Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee.
West Bengal Speaker H A Halim on Sunday directed assembly officials to expunge the name of the Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee from the proceedings of the House following a request from Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee.
Urging the Speaker to expunge her name from the record of the proceedings of the House, Chatterjee asked why ruling party members continued to raise it when Banerjee was neither present nor a member of the House.
Describing it as against the rules of the House, Chatterjee demanded that the Speaker to stop the practice immediately.
The Speaker later directed officials to expunge the name of the Railway Minister but ruled that her designation could remain.
The Trinamool Congress members did not attend the House and only entered to raise the Point of Information.
