Strikes being planned in Kolkata, says Maoist leader
Venkateswar Reddy (44), alias Telugu Deepak, the state committee member and Bengal military commission chief of the Naxalites who was arrested last Wednesday, has told intelligence agencies that Maoists have raised an action squad to target government establishments, specially the police and paramilitary, in the city.
Kolkata may be seeing a return of the Naxalites.

The Maoists are entrenching themselves in some of the very areas that were the strongholds of the Naxalbari movement 40 years back.
Intelligence officials named areas in the districts of North and South Parganas and Howrah — that surrounds Kolkata — from where the Maoists have recruited their members. Kolkata may be seeing a return of the Naxalites.
