Tainted Saradha group head Sudipta Sen said before a local court on Sunday he had to satisfy political leaders, including ministers, so that he could run his allegedly crooked investment business unhindered.

“Within three months the truth will be revealed,” Sen said before additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) Debdeep Manna even as he was remanded in 10 days’ police custody in a case filed by an agent-cum-investor of the group.

Sen said he wanted to stay in police custody so that he could cooperate with the police. Pointing his finger at some employees of his company, Sen said they had “cheated” him at every step.

Sen’s lawyer Samir Das said: “He said because of faulty software, many accounts were not maintained properly.”

On Sunday, there was an agitation on the court premises when Sen was brought from another jail on the outskirts of Kolkata. The agitators broke the security cordon and the police had to resort to lathicharge. Anticipating trouble because the Saradha group’s main office is in the place where the court is located and many of its investors lived there, the police threw an elaborate security blanket in the area.

“He will be kept in the Bidhannagar police lockup (35 km away) to avoid agitations,” a police officer said.
