In further embarrassment to the Trinamool Congress, its Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh today issued a veiled threat to his party that he is likely to open a can of worms if he is arrested. HT reports.

In further embarrassment to the Trinamool Congress, its Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh on Sunday issued a veiled threat to his party that he is likely to open a can of worms if he is arrested, apart from demanding an enquiry commission with in the party over Saradha chit fund scam.

The MP said this while visiting Bidhan Nagar police commiserate headquarters for the second consecutive day, after his outburst against his party and amidst speculations of an impending arrest. Ghosh’s move has put the party on the back foot with allegations that a large number of senior party leaders are involved with the chit fund scam in Bengal.

“I am co-operating with police officers who have called me. If the police want to arrest me they can. But if that time comes, I will request the officers to give me a little time to hold a small press conference. Now I cannot say more because of political courtesy,” said Ghosh on his way to interrogation.

Ghosh stated that his ‘heart bleeds’ when he hears that he is anti-party. “I want to tell Trinamool Congress workers who have struggled in villages before the party came to power, that I was with them during that time. In my case it was not that Trinamool came to power and then I joined in. My heart bleeds when I hear some party leaders call me anti-party,” said Ghosh.

Sources in the party stated that Ghosh has already sent a letter to Mukul Roy, Trinamool Congress all India general secretary, demanding a in-party enquiry committee to look into Saradha scam.

In his letter he had stated that he cannot spell out all facts in an administrative investigation or enquiry because of political compulsions. However, he is ready to face a probe committee with in the party where he will tell all.

Ghosh not only hinted that he knows much more and gave a clear message to the party leaders that he is likely to name other party leaders linked with Saradha chit fund scam.

Ghosh earlier on numerous occasions stated that he is ready for a probe by CBI, despite his party chief Mamata Banerjee ruling it out.

Meanwhile the party maintained a strong stand against the rebels, with Partha Chatterjee convener of disciplinary committee of the party making it clear that showcause letters are being sent to the three MPs. “It is zero tolerance for indiscipline in the party,” Chatterjee said.

It was September 20, when three MPs of Trinamool Congress, Kunal Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy and Tapas Paul vented their ire against the party and a section of leaders while speaking at a blood donation camp in North Kolkata. Interestingly, the blood donation camp was organized by rebel party MP Somen Mitra and his wife Sikha who is an MLA.

Following the outburst Trinamool Congress issued a show cause notice to the leaders and co-incidentally Ghosh was called for interrogation by police regarding the Saradha scam for two consecutive days.

Earlier, the names of Ghosh and other leaders had cropped up not only in a letter written by Saradha boss Sudipto Sen, but also during investigations in the chit fund scam in Bengal this year. However, Ghosh was called just once for a brief interrogation in April. No one else was ever called.
