US Ambassador Timothy Roemer will meet West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Oct 13, the first day of his maiden two-day visit to the city, American Consulate sources said on Thursday.
Roemer will also meet representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), and visit the ancestral home of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore at Jorasanko, the sources said.
Roemer, who took over his present assignment in August, will October 14 pay tribute to Mother Teresa at Mother House - the global headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity (MoC) founded by her. Later in the day, he will go round Shishu Bhavan, a children's home run by the MoC.
Children and other needy people receive a daily meal that is funded in part through the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) food aid program, the sources said.
