West Bengal assembly adjourned over Nandigram issue

The West Bengal assembly was adjourned on Thursday over the Nandigram issue within 10 minutes of the start of proceedings amidst uproarious scenes.
The assembly was adjourned till 12.30 pm. As the opposition Trinamool Congress, Congress and SUCI members shouted slogans against Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

Trinamool Congress MLAs entered the house in farmer's dress wearing black headbands and holding placards.

Displaying blood-stained apparels, they rushed to the well shouting slogans against the chief minister, who was sitting in the house.

They raised placards which mentioned `protest against mass killings at Nandigram', `Buddha, agent of Tata and Salim, must resign'.

CPI(M) members also started raising slogans and Speaker H A Halim failing to pacify the members of both the sides, adjourned the house.

Later, the Trinamool members paid tributes to Nandigram victims by placing floral wreaths on the martyr tomb erected outside the house.
