The state Youth Congress is all set to launch a campaign for the forthcoming panchayat elections. As a part of their campaign, they will hold a Panchayati Raj convention on September 12.
"The state Youth Congress will hold its first Panchayati Raj convention on September 12. We are going to decide the message, modes and dates of our campaign during the convention. If required, we will be campaigning against the Trinamool Congress. I have got the green light from the high command," said Mausam Benazir Noor, the president of the state Youth Congress.
Noor said prominent leaders from Bengal and Delhi would attend the convention. "We have office bearers at the Parliament and Assembly level. We will be now focusing on the panchayat level and will organise the party," said Noor.
"In the Assembly election, four out of seven Youth Congress leaders managed to win. Now, we are hopeful that some of our leaders will win in the panchayat polls," said Noor. "We are geared up to face an attack on our supporters from the Trinamool Congress. We have faced attacks from CPI(M) during the Left regime," she added.
