And, the Capital is home to many such food joints that can boast of being popular among celebs — filmstars, singers and even politicos — be it those residing here or on a visit to the Capital. We tell you about five such eating joints, where a celeb may have enjoyed a meal at that very table you ate at.
Al Jawahar
Opened in 1948, the eatery is considered one of the best for non-vegetarian food. Singer Yo Yo Honey Singh is a regular here and is said to love their Badaam Pasanda, priced at Rs 250. Singer Daler Mehndi, too, enjoys the Tandoori Chicken (Rs 330) and Butter Chicken (Rs 545) served here. Another fan is Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who loves to eat the Kaleji Gurda (Rs 205), Brain Curry (Rs 215) and Nargisi Burrah (Rs 340), served here. “Our food attracts celebs. We serve the best Mughlai food in the city after all,” says owner Salim.
Khan Chacha
This renowned eatery is a favourite of many eminent personalities. Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana are regulars here for the sumptuous Mutton Kakori Kebab (Rs 140 for 4 pieces), Chicken Tikka (Rs 140 for 8 pieces), Paneer Tikka (Rs 130 for 4 pieces) and Paneer Roomali Roll (Rs 140), served here. “Celebs generally visit in the evening and there is no private section or special arrangements made for them, they eat with the public only,” says Mohd Javed, the owner of the eatery.

The Treat
Gifted by late Bollywood superstar, Rajesh Khanna, to his biggest fan Vipin Oberoi, the eatery is popular among fans of Khanna. “Rajesh Khanna ji advised me to open this outlet. His favourite dish was Mutton Keema Kofta (Rs 280), and he visited about 500 times with other filmstars and politicians, mostly at night,” says Oberoi. Recently, actor Ajay Devgn ate at the outlet. The food here is prepared in very little or no oil.
Karim’s
Indian businessman and Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra, and politician Farooq Abdullah visit the outlet quiet often. Superstar Aamir Khan, too, loves to order food from here. Chicken Tikka (Rs 390), Seekh kabab (Rs 50) and Mutton Qorma (Rs 240) are the speciality here. Painter MF Husain had expressed his love for the outlet with a painting that now hangs on their wall. “We’ve been cooking royal food for generations,” says Ziauddin, the manager.
Nizam’s
Be it cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ishant Sharma or singer Daler Mehndi, they all pay frequent visits here for the Chicken Keema Egg Roll (Rs 195), Mutton Keema Egg Roll (Rs 200), and Chicken Biryani (Rs 240), served here. Recently, actor Imran Khan dropped by and enjoyed a Mutton Keema Roll.
