Between landscape and art: Best installations from IGF

The International Garden Festival 2014 (IGF 2014) at Reford Gardens in Grand-Metis, Quebec, Canada is underway, showcasing 22 contemporary installations by designers and architects that cross the boundries between landscape and art. The festival runs through September 28.

"Making Circles in the Water" by Balmori Associates
This series of frames with circular openings by NYC-based Balmori Associates looks at the connection between elements of the coastal and marine landscapes.

"HAHA!" by spmb
The ha-ha, from Quebec-based spmb, is a sunken wall or ditch associated with country houses that forms an invisible barrier for animals, allowing uninterrupted views into the countryside.

"Méristème" by Châssi
This garden by Quebec-based Méristème consists of an aggregation of irregular cells that contain 35 of Québec’s native plant species.

"Réflexions colorées" by Hal Ingberg
This triangle provides a courtyard-like enclosure that both frames and intensifies the perception of the forest. From Montreal-based Hal Ingberg.

Light and perspective collaborate with the different shades of orange in this garden by NYC-based Nomad Studio.

"Rotunda" by CITYLABORATORY
This garden from Spainish studio CITYLABORATORY will be filled with water at the beginning of its life and left to evolve over time, acting as a climate register device.
