Those who were not born in the days when India won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, or were too young at that time, have a big reason to thank MS Dhoni, for giving us our own set of winning memories.

Who can forget the towering six that Mahi struck to lift both the World Cup and a billion spirits in 2011. And now there is a book that chronicles this and several other moments from Dhoni’s life. Journalist Shantanu Guha Ray does a fine job of tracing the journey of this maverick Indian captain who has managed to impress even the harshest of critics.

The reader gets to know how Dhoni left football for cricket in school and how he acquired his first cricketing gear. Though Ray goes to lengths to discuss the controversies that Dhoni had to face in his career, he also tells the reader about other little things, like his down-to-earth nature, his fixation with bikes, his ever-changing hairstyles, and his love story with wife Sakshi.
