Orhan Pamuk's fans were in for a treat when world-renowned Turkish author Orhan Pamuk came visiting the Capital after attending the much talked about Jaipur Literature Festival.

The writer was in Delhi to launch his book The Naïve and The Sentimental Novelist , which has been published by Penguin India. Explaining the concept, he said a naïve mind doesn't see the artificial side of the story, while a sentimental does. And a good novelist is both naïve and a sentimentalist.

With a packed-house at the Stein auditorium, India Habitat Centre, the celebrated author also read out excerpts from his famous books - The Black Book , My Name is Red and Istanbul: Memories of a City.

He explained how these books came into existence.   With The Black Book , he said he found his voice, and with Istanbul , he wrote the autobiography he had been planning for a long time.

Answering a question about writers using their books as a foreground to stress on much bigger issues like politics, he said, all literature is interesting if written with a mix of general experiences or a personal experience.

When asked if he ever plans to move the set up of his stories from Istanbul, the novelist said no, he is going to carry on with his birth city as the base of his books.

Considering the response to his books and sessions, Pamuk might not be planning to move the set up of his books, but there is no doubt that his fans in India will definitely wait for more such book reading sessions.

Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish author known for his books, including The White Castle, The Black Book, The New Life, My Name is Red, Snow, Istanbul: Memories of a City and Museum of Innocence. He also won a Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006.
