With Shri Ram College of Commerce and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad on his CV, Apurv Nagpal with two decades of corporate work-experience is the latest biz-kid to have hit the book shelves.
The 42-year-old who is passionate about travel, sport and cinema, is out with his first book — eighteen plus. The book is a collection of 18 adult stories with a dollop of erotica, blended with chunks of humour.
On his experience of writing the book, Nagpal tells us, “Writing was the easy part. I wrote it in less than a month. I used to make little notes, if a thought or a situation struck me and then when I used to sit on my writing chair, I would go through them.”
When asked if the author believes if such sort of writing is still a taboo in India, he says, “This writing can surely be universally respected. Just because there is sex in it, it does not mean that there is something wrong. To emphasise my point, the book comprises short stories, which are desi, quirky, funny and happen to have explicit sex in them. Unfortunately, the latter seems to prejudice certain people but thankfully they are minuscule in number.”
The writer concludes by telling us about some interesting compliments he received on his book. “I was once told that I write like a woman. It was meant to highlight the fact that the book has lot of sensitivity and is laced with rich characters, apart from the sex bit. Then there was this incident when I was told that it was about time there was something better than Savita Bhabhi (Indian pornographic cartoon character) for the average Indian reader. I am
overwhelmed by the fact that people across the board have liked the book.”
The book that runs 172 pages is priced at `195 and is available at all bookstores nationally.
