A tablelamp shaped as the sabre of Darth Vader from "Star Wars" or glasses to protect eyes of gamers from LCD screen glare, the third annual 'Comic Con India' that began here Friday promises to fulfill fantasies of comic book lovers, gamers and movie buffs alike.

The three-day event has over 80 participants and several interactive sessions and talks by renowned artists. There are also exclusive merchandise of popular books and comics up for grabs.

"We have merchandise that is hard to find anywhere else -- from rare figurines of 'Tom and Jerry' and 'The Flintstones' to expensive toys and other utilities based on popular movies and characters," Comic Con India founder Jatin Varma told IANS.

The other popular products are pouches, wallets, coffee mugs, key chains, mobile and tablets covers based on cartoon characters.

Niche and expensive items such as a motorcycle helmet emulating the one worn by Captain America or a replica of Hermoine Granger's gown she wears in the "Harry Potter" series of films are also attracting youngsters.

A letter opener imitating King Leonidas's sword from the movie "300" was priced at Rs. 1,900 while Dumbledore's tassel hat from the "Harry Potter" series could be bought for Rs. 1,200.

"The response is overwhelming. Despite the prices, we're selling a lot of stuff," Sugandh Windlass of Collectors Heritage told IANS.

For gamers who addicted to "Counter Strike" or "Call of Duty", Gunnar Technology Eyewear is offering special spectacles that protect eyes from glare of the LCD screen.

"The eyewear helps retain the moisture and even after hours of playing there will be fatigue," said Srujay Parekh, business head of the company.

The range starts at Rs. 4,000 and has special edition spectacles with "Call of Duty" inscribed in the frame priced at Rs. 6,500.
