Kenneth Grahame's classic children's story is to launch for free as part of a promotional weekend tied in
to a UK Get Reading initiative, becoming paid-for afterwards (£2.49 in the UK, reports The Bookseller), with Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" marked for future release.
Beyond the Story, which put together the new "Wind in the Willows," has recently produced digital versions of "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" and "Kings and Queens" by David Starkey, as well as companion apps for Alexander McCall Smith's "The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party" and the Will & Jaden Smith movie "After Earth."
The company's technology allows it to populate its e-book experiences with not only images, audio and video but also active links, 3D content, live broadcasting and real-time updates.
