Gift him something special, not expensive - You should gift him something through which you can show your love for your father. Be creative with what you're gifting him. Try to make it yourself by putting in some efforts, may be a collage of your old photographs or a coffee mug with you and your father's picture on it. It will be a memorable gift for sure.
Go for a hand-made card - Gift him a card made by you and write everything you always wanted to tell him. Since he's a a grown-up, not to mention your father, he may not really express his feelings that openly or cry seeing it, but trust us, your card and all your feelings will make him feel emotional.
Take him out - To make this day more special, take your father out somewhere. If he's a theatre lover, you can take him out for some play or if he's into music, go to a music jig or plan a small musical everning at home, especially for him, all by yourself. And if none of these is possible simply take him out for dinner and spend some quality time with him. Simple and sweet!
Go online, buy him a gift - In case you and your father are in different cities on Father's Day, don't get disheartened. You can still buy him something online - abook, a perfume or anything he fancies. If your father is a gadget lover, you can gift him a mobile cover. Just get online and explore all your gifting options, before you decide to do absolutley nothing. And that would be quite boring, to say the least!
Chill at home - If you can't go out with him for some reason, you can still make the day special at home. Just remember: this day is all about your dad and being with him, at aleast in spirit. Cooking his favorite dish, watching his favorite movie with him or just spending quality talking about his childhood, college days and so on, are enough to make this day special. And of course don't forget to tell him how much you love him!
