A lot of people chose to skip the day’s first show, which showcased four relatively young labels. Those who did choose to attend it were glad, for each of them were impressive in their own right.

Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra and Kajol sizzled at the ramp on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 on Friday. The LFW, held twice annually, features creations by over 87 designers and will culminate on March 26. We bring you the bold and beautiful pics from day one at LFW.
denims paired with some interesting neckpieces created using mineral ores. Up next, Ilk by Shikha and Vinita had fresh mint greens and aquas with gorgeous surface textures. “All machine-tailored,” the designers informed us later. Sneha Arora’s models believed they could fly. Who wouldn’t, with flow-y bird and hot air-balloon printed outfits, empty cages in hand? The last of the lot, funky duo Munkee.See.Munkee.Doo had a lot of sheer — like everyone else — but they used it best in drop waists, bare backs and under opaque collars.
Expectations from Swapnil Shinde’s Alice On Acid were high, and the designer didn’t disappoint. Electric blues, greens, oranges and pinks clubbed with houndstooth prints made for a killer combination. Some of the pieces may be best left for magazine editorials, but the rest are sure to hit the red carpet in the coming weeks.
Sailex and Rajat K Tangri, who showed together, had plenty of wearable stuff between them. The former doesn’t seem like he can ever be caught on the foot wrong, while the latter brought ruffles back to the ramp.
Closing out the day, Arjun Khanna seemed to be having a ball. His collection, inspired by bicycle boys, had everything from bomber jackets to bandhgalas and four-piece suits. The male models were evidently excited too, for they hoisted the designer (looking devilishly handsome in his paint-spattered jeans) when he took the ramp for a bow.
Ever ready to pose
There was such shortage of celeb presence on the third day of the Lakme Fashion Week, that photographers had to make do with the likes of Imam Siddique. As the reality star entered the arena to attend Krishna Mehta’s show, the photographers demanded that he pose, and of course Imam obliged.
Remember Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhangiani from Aditya Chopra’s puppy-love romance Mohabbatein (2000)? Well, apparently the actors are close friends in real life as well. They were spotted strutting around the venue waiting for the shows to begin.

Young designer Megha Garg sent her models out in some very bizarre footwear. We like that she wants to be edgy and innovative, but why these clunky boxes that even seasoned models found difficult to walk in?
