Zhang Ziyi, Laetitia Casta
Both actors chose gowns from the same Christian Dior collection, but Zhang (left) fared better. The neon flowers on the bodice give her a big edge, adding a youthful spunk. Laetitia posed on the red carpet with a rather hideous feathered cape covering her arms. She wisely took it off inside the event, letting the gown speak for itself.
This custom-made gown by one of Uma’s favourite design houses, Atelier Versace, looks great on her. The bodice has crystal detailing, which complements the actor’s jewellery. It’s a classy, understated appearance from a woman who rarely puts a foot wrong on the red carpet.
Wearing yet another Sabyasachi, Vidya made her final appearance at the festival. If we are to look at her objectively, not considering her last few outfits, this is a great way to go out. The silhouette is classy, while the sparkly dupatta adds some pizzazz. The hair is a marked improvement from the tight buns she’s been sporting. A red lipstick could have made this even better.
One of the only stars who chose not to go full-length. The Bond girl donned a teal Elie Saab evening dress with a matching clutch by the designer and even a co-ordinated manicure. Bright lipstick and wavy locks finished the look.
The Australian actor blew us away in her white Giorgio Armani gown with a Swarovski bow detail at the waist. She’s had a great run at the festival, and this sums it up perfectly.
