Genext is something that is always looked forward to at the Lakme Fashion Week. In the past, LFW has launched many talents who, today, are some of the best known fashion designers in the country. This time, it was a mixed bag, with a few extremely talented designers and some who didn’t score that

The collection in organic fabrics was young in appeal and had silhouettes in varied forms. A more subdued colour palette of garments was complemented with vibrant footwear and clever accessories. Ritu Beri, on the other hand, at her showing for Volvo Cars, used a variety of interesting fabrics with lace appliqués. Her silhouettes included those close to the body as well as more breathe-easy ones.
Jatin Verma had extensive surface detailing using chains, felt appliqué, tone-on-tone sequins and brasswork. But the exaggerated overall look restricts his garments only to women with slender bodies. Vizyon, the label that was launched three years ago by Shradha Murarka and Nino Palisse, had a very creative collection using interesting dense embroidery on structured silhouettes. While it was trendy in appeal, some of the garments like a fully embroidered copper skirt, black cut leather skirt and structured dress with overlap cutouts were very well executed.
Pallavi Jaikishen, in the last showing of the day, celebrated 40 years in fashion designing with opulence. Her collection of festive wear was very well executed with intricate and extensive embroidery, a pleasant colour palette and a very stylish overall appeal.
